Catherine Baird is a curiosity-driven actor, interdisciplinary creator, and collaborative teaching artist.

Thriving in high-energy, athletic roles that encourage physical comedy, Catherine has toured nationally with the award-winning rock & roll nutrition education program, Jump with Jill. Other theatrical credits include Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks, Steel City Shakespeare Center, PlayMakers Repertory Company, Hangar Theatre, Broadway Series South, and the Pittsburgh New Works Festival. Catherine is also a middle school musical director, and she serves as a teaching artist with Quantum Theatre’s devised education program and Steel City Shakespeare’s Youth Shakespeare Academy.

As a Squarespace website designer and the founder of Drizzly Day Design, Catherine aims to empower fellow artists, arts organizations, and small businesses with custom websites that stand out in the digital landscape. A strong believer in artist agency, she also teaches clients the basics of how to manage and grow their own sites.

Catherine is currently based out of Pittsburgh, PA and holds dual degrees in Public Health Advocacy and Dramatic Arts from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Catherine is back on tour… this time to local Pittsburgh schools in The Incredibly Innovative Innovators of Pittsburgh as Lisa.

Lisa is a high school student who wins a VIP experience to meet her favorite band (The Cement Heads). This could be the greatest night of her life, but something is killing her mojo. She has a major homework assignment due the next morning, and she hasn’t event started it!!! Can The Cement Heads convince her that there ARE innovations from Pittsburgh worth writing - and singing - about?

Through dramatic sketches and musical vignettes, Pittsburgh CLO’s Gallery of Heroes "edutainment" program takes its 50-minute mini-musicals to area schools to educate and enlighten students. Highlighting the lives and accomplishments of significant historical figures, Gallery of Heroes offers an entertaining alternative to traditional lectures and books.

Little Amal

Why is a 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian girl traveling the world? Little Amal—whose name means “hope” in Arabic—has journeyed across 15 countries, meeting more than one million people. Catherine will join RealTime Arts in a performance of Ghosts of the Furnace at Carrie Furnace to welcome Little Amal to Pittsburgh. on September 20.

Cleopatra & Antony

Catherine plays Charmian, Lepidus, and Schoolmaster in Cleopatra & Antony with Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks. The rarely-performed tale of comes alive in a fierce, all-female production with music, dance, and soul-lifting fun. Find the schedule for each weekend in September here.

Finding Nemo, Jr.

A student dressed as Marlin the clownfish looks at eleven students with sparkly moonfish gloves, a student playing Dory the blue tang, and a student playing Nemo the clownfish stuck in a large net.

Catherine directs a cast of 60 middle schoolers in Finding Nemo, Jr. at North Allegheny, a school district north of Pittsburgh. Performances will be November 16-19. Learn more about NA’s musical program here.
